Goat Basati Side Profile

Basati Prototype – Goat Longboards

Goat manufacturers high-end longboards based out of Navarra, Spain. They began in 2011 with Bamboo laminates and have since methodically improved their design, production and testing processes. Their latest experiment is a sexy new composite prototype for team rider Andrez Krob.

Details on the new prototype are slim but notable changes include a carbon-fiber composite upper and lower, additional wheelbase options and flared wheel wells.

Goat has previously teased prototypes that turn into production models so keep an eye here for availability and we’ll update this post with any additional information we receive. Hit the link to check out Goat’s site and grab one of their decks!

Updates from Goat

Goat reached out to provide some more information. They’re refining a new manufacturing process to reduce weight, increase rigidity and incorporate composite materials. This prototype is the successful result. Goat will be working with team riders to improve their new process until it’s ready for the masses. The prototype pictured here features the same dimensions as it’s all wooden counterpart (Shown below).

About Goat Longboards

Since this initial prototype, Goat has been hard at work producing some epic decks, like the Soul, Hare, and Elude. The beauty of these decks is hard to convey: abstract but down-to-earth about captures it.

Their boards are made for a variety of uses. The Soul and Elude are both more geared toward freeriding, while the Hare is made for downhill. You’ll find the specs on all of them match. Along with the Basati, the Thor Hammer is a great option for downhill riders too.

The production of their boards is treated as both an art and a science, with particular attention paid to the craft with the design, as we mentioned. You’ll notice that their boards are bamboo-based, which is common for manufacturers that want a balance of weight and quality. There’s a reason why Goat longboards look so appealing–they work directly with riders to make sure that they’re staying in touch with their needs. It’s clearly working for them!

TSG Evolution Knock on Wood

Evolution Wood – TSG Longboard Helmet

Staying safe while you ride is one of the most important aspects of skating and you can do it in style with TSG. Their popular Evolution helmet is now available in a new wood pattern. Construction features a hard, injection molded nylon exterior shell with a shock absorbing EPS foam interior. The wood grain pattern is applied using printed foil so as not to affect the safety features of the helmet.

Wood Helmet Design

Comfort and style remain priorities as well. The anatomical design results in one of the slimmest, best fitting hardshells on the market. It sits low and snug to fully protect the back and sides of your head without sacrificing any freedom of movement. Owners can customize the fit using the included interior comfort pads of varying thicknesses. Thoughtfully located air vents keep the air flowing and your head cool.

Available now at the link. Visit TSG and pick one up today!

Other Helmet Styles

If you cross the streams and bike or skateboard too then you might be interested in some of their other gear as well. They have helmets of all sizes, colors, and uses.

Check out their most basic helmets all the way to their extreme carbon fiber gear and you’ll see the full breadth of their design capabilities. They truly are designing helmets, wood or otherwise, that are a fit for any athlete.

We love safety, but we also love the other gear–the kind that makes you go fast! If you want to stay up to date on the latest reviews, enter your email. We’ll notify you about new product releases from your favorite brands.

Skate Blood Orange Insert Bushings

Insert Bushings – Skate Blood Orange

New Insert Bushings from Skate Blood Orange are shipping on the latest Precision Trucks from Caliber! Poured in their responsive Ultra-HR bushing formula, the new bushings are designed to eliminate the air gap between the bushing, hanger and kingpin. Less play between the interfaces means dramatically improved responsiveness and rapid return to center. While they aren’t currently available individually, the bushings are also compatible with Caliber’s Cast trucks!

Each Precision truck comes with 3 pairs in the durometer/color combinations listed below:

  • Maroon 86a
  • Red 89a
  • Yellow 92a

Caliber + Skate Blood Orange

The partnership we love! Since the beginning, Caliber has used Blood Orange bushings with their trucks–like their Hollow Standards. It really helped them deliver the full package to riders when they were young. And we’re happy to say that they’ve continued the partnership.

DK Dropkick Concave

DK DropKick – Eastside Longboards

The DK DropKick is Eastside Longboard’s response to requests for a double-kick version of their popular Carbon DropKick Deck. Released in 2006, the Carbon DropKick is one of Eastside’s original offerings and it’s versatile shape is well-rounded for many riding styles. The DK DropKick improves on this design with a double-kick, new dimensions and a new mold.

DK Dropkick Board R&D

Eastside has spent 8 months developing and prototyping the new DK DropKick. It measures 39.5″ long and 9.75″ wide with a 26.75″ wheelbase. The standing platform is approximately 23″ between the drop-through truck mounts. The new mold adds a subtle W-shaped concave, providing a nice reference for foot placement while still being comfortable for long distance pushing. Slight changes to the rocker and solid 9-ply Maple construction ensure the deck is rigid enough for a double-kick.

Eastside expects the new model to be available before the end of 2016. We’ve reached out for a more specific ETA. Keep an eye on Eastside’s shop and hit the link to head over and purchase one when available!

Update: The DK DropKick will be available for purchase on August 5th! Check out the company’s official announcement and enter to win one before the release.
